Wireless Interference Management

Mitigating interference is a fundamental problem in wireless networks. A basic technique to achieve this is to control the transmission powers of the nodes to reduce interferences among simultaneously active links while satisfying SINR requirements. For elastic data traffic, we can also optimize the target SINRs so that the corresponding transmission power can be optimized. A third technique is to schedule links in the proximity of each other to transmit at different times. Optimal utilization of these techniques often requires in-depth mathematical analysis based on optimization and queueing theories.
