Network Optimization

During the last decade, convex optimization has been widely recognized as a major theoretical tool for modeling, analyzing, and designing communication networks. The recent framework of "layering as optimization decomposition" further provides a fresh new angle of looking at the connections between various optimization techniques and the architecture of the next generation networks. In NCEL, we not only extensively use various optimization techniques in studying communication networks, but also try to develop new network optimization frameworks that can be applied to a wide range of applications.
